We stripped ears of corn, threw into wagons,

corn sheller gave cobs for winter fuel.

Dry cow chips for summer fuel.

Everything operated on one-boy-power:

laundry, cob fuel, chips—wagons full.

Made good crops till 1932. ’33, the wind came, the dirt storms.

1934, gave it up, moved away,
